Samarkand State Medical Institute
Samarkand State medical Institute is located in Samarkand City in Central Asia. It is the oldest medical institution in the region. It offers qualitative training of medical personnel. The school’s history dates back to the establishment of Uzbek State Medical Institute in May 1930. More than 40,000 specialists have graduated from Samarkand Institute since its establishment.
The current rector of the university is Rizayev Jasur Alimjanovich, who is a professor and doctor of medical sciences. The school has 53 departments and 1190 classrooms that are equipped with modern computers. The institute has implemented a credit module education system since 2013.

To ensure quality scientific and research work and teaching process, the classrooms, lecture halls, and clinical laboratories are well equipped with basic technologies, video and audio systems, and multimedia projectors. It has international cooperation with various international and educational organizations in Germany, USA, Japan, South Korea, Spain Netherlands, Russia, Ukraine and Kazakhstan. The school has a medical base with two clinics. The clinics have a bed capacity of 375 and 200. The school is approved by the World Health Organization. Graduates of the school are eligible to apply for ECFMG certification. The medium of study in the school is English and Uzbek.
The university has various faculties which include Medical Faculty established in 1930, Pediatric Faculty established in 1963, Faculty of Advanced Training and Retraining of Doctors established in 1981, Medical Pedagogy established in 2005, Higher Nursing Work established in 2005 and Faculty of Pharmacy established in 2018.
The university has a student scientific society. It has an Information Resource Center with more than 300,000 publications. Courses in the first year include cytology, embryology, human anatomy, histology, medical chemistry and fundamentals of psychology.
Well-equipped accommodation facilities are provided by the university. Hostels for female students and male students are separate. Students have access to WIFI facilities. Mess facilities are available to the students. The rooms are on sharing basis between two or three students.
