International Medical and Technological University
International Medical and Technological University was established in 1995 and is located in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. The school is a private university that started with 5 students all from India. It currently has more than 1000 students. Shri Katuri Subba Rao is the owner of the university. He is also the founder and chairman of the Vignan Educational Foundation.
The Vignan Educational Foundation in India initiated the establishment of the university. Benjamin Mkapa, the third president of Tanzania, together with Jakaya M. Kikwete, the fourth president of Tanzania, sowed the seeds of the establishment of the university when they were Minister of Science and Technology, and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation respectively.

The university’s establishment is a symbol of the long-standing relationship between India and Tanzania. The school started out with the College of Medicine which was inaugurated by the Prime Minister of India. Enrollment of undergraduate students is through a centralized system governed by Tanzania Commission for University. The university processes the admission for Masters and PhD based on the criteria that it has set. It has students from different countries such as India, Kenya, Uganda, Oman, Sri Lanka and Pakistan. It is among the leading universities in Tanzania. The core values include accountability and transparency, innovation and moral standards and integrity.
The university has the Faculty of Medicine which was inaugurated in 1997.
The university offers different opportunities for entertainment, extra-curricular activities and religious pursuits. Sporting facilities available include courts for volleyball, basketball, cricket and football. The East, Central and Southern African Universities Sports Association organizes sporting competition that students in the school take part in.
