The university was established in 2005 and named after Tan Sri Dato Seri Dr. Jeffrey Cheah. The university offers various study options and a supportive environment for studying. The first two cohorts of its Bachelor of Surgery and Bachelor of Medicine were placed in Victoria, Australia from 2005 to 2006. The university became fully operational in 2009 with 5 cohorts of students. The students were from year one to year five enrolled in the MBBS program. The MD program is similar to the one offered in Monash University, Australia running at the same time in 3 campuses- Clayton, Malaysia and Gippsland.

University Introduction:

The university is accredited by the Australian Medical Council. Students are required to go on a mandatory 3-month attachment in Australia. This takes place in their 5th year and allows them practical experience in an Australian setting. The university introduced latest modern technologies to enhance the teaching and the learning process. This includes MAPEL lab, learning suites and interactive medical multimedia resources. The students’ clinical skills are taught with computerized teaching tools, models and human simulators. 

Faculty:

The school faculty have a variety of backgrounds in biomedical and clinical research.

Campus Life:

The university offers students scholarships and financial assistance. The school’s student association provides services, activities and representation on academic affairs for students. The school also has Malaysia Immersion Hub that functions as a platform for students and staff who wish to foster a deeper and more meaningful sense of Malaysia. The hub offers services and assistance to other educational institutions in producing content relevant to topics of history, religion, politics, culture or environment in Malaysia.
