American board of Thoracic Surgery

The American Association for Thoracic Surgery is the renowned board for medical certification. It is firstly discussed in a meeting that happened in Rochester, Minnesota. But later on, in 1945 the present of the board reappointed the board committee.


Finally, in 1971 the Board of Thoracic Surgery was recognized as the primary board and renamed as the American Board of Thoracic Surgery.

University Introduction:

The American Board of Thoracic Surgery is a notorious board of numerous Maintenance of Certification (MOC) programs. The board is affiliated with the American Board of Medical Specialties. It is also recognized by the Medical Council of India and the World Health Organization. The certifications are approved by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME), Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, and the American Board of Thoracic Surgery.



The American Board of Thoracic Surgery offers certification in pathologic conditions within the chest. The surgeon here teaches the students to treat injured organs in the chest, myocardium, trachea (windpipe), esophagus, pericardium, coronary arteries, pleura, valves, and mediastinum. The institution offers multiple certifications such as Congenital Cardiac Surgery. Currently, the board has 17 board members.


Campus Life

Students here can get the certification by following the pathway programs of the corporation. The board offers four pathway programs, pathway 1 – five-year residency in General Surgery, Pathway 2- 5-year residency in General Surgery, Pathway 3- six-year integrated Thoracic Surgery residency, and Pathway 4- an ACGME-approved five-year Vascular Surgery residency. The institution also offers relevant training to the students and multiple laboratories to practice surgeries. Here students learn to treat the most common disease such as coronary artery disease, lung cancer, esophageal cancer, valve problems, heart and lung transplantation, etc.



The institution does not have a hostel facility. However, there are several affordable flats and apartments in the vicinity of the university. The apartments have all the necessary facilities and provide a comforting and friendly atmosphere. The apartments also offer a caretaker facility in case of an emergency.
