Cairo University is a premier public university located in Egypt. The school’s main campus is in Giza. It was established on 21st December, 1908. At that time, it was known as Egyptian University. It was founded by a committee of private citizens with royal patronage. It became a state institution in 1925 under King Fuad. The first female students enrolled into the university in 1928. After he died, the school changed its name to King Fuad I in 1940 in his honor.

University Introduction:

The university is one of the largest institutions in Egypt. It is also one of the largest 50 institutions of higher education in the world by enrollment. It enrolls approximately 1,55,000 students. The school has 20 faculties and 3 institutions. Three of its graduates are recognized as Laureates. 


Cairo University has a school of law and a school of medicine. The school has 12, 158 administrative staff.  The Faculties within the school include Engineering, Medicine, Computer and Information systems, Pharmacology, Agriculture, Science, Economics and Political science, Mass communication, Archeology, Arts, Commerce, Specialized Education, Nursing, Law, Physiotherapy, Oral and Dental Medicine, Veterinary Medicine, DarEl-Ulum, Kindergarten, Regional and Urban planning.

Campus Life:

The school works together with several organizations to ensure newcomers explore the city. This allows them to familiarize with the area. It also has programs that allow students participate in cultural, social, artistic, athletic, and Gawala fields. Sports activities available include Futsal, Basketball, Table Tennis, and S, quash. Cultural and artistic activities include poetry, short story competition, article competitions, general information competition, and research competitions.


The school has accommodation for its students. The hostels and playgrounds occupy 46 acres of university land.
