In 1933, Donglu University initiated a specialized associate program in medicine which has since evolved and grown into the present Kunming Medical University. In 1956, the university became an independent 6 key higher education institution in the province. Kunming Medical University provides an on-campus hostel to international students. International Student Dormitory is well-equipped and avails a double room and suite for international students. Male and female students are provided with separate accommodations. International students living in school dormitories should observe Regulations on International Student Dormitory Management. All rooms are equipped with a private bathroom and toilet, wardrobe, desk, chair, and Internet access. Some rooms are equipped with air-conditioners as well. Apart from the hostel fee, students are required to pay the cost of electricity, water, and internet according to their usage.
