The university was established in 2002. It is located in the South Pacific Island nation of Samoa. It was founded by Taffy Gould, a famous philanthropist, together with a handful of Australian doctors. It is operated via a public-private partnership between the Samoan Government and e-Medical Education, LLC.
The university’s mission is to produce physicians with adequate and necessary knowledge skills and attitudes to improve the health of communities in Oceania and beyond. The age of students ranges from 22-62 years old.
The National hospital is in the village of Motootua. The faculty members in the university give lectures and serve as academic advisers. The school’s admission schedule is on a rolling basis.

University Introduction:
The school is accredited by Education Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates and is listed in the World Directory of Medical Schools. University has faculty members from Australia, New Zealand and the United States. The school ensures that the medical curriculum is internationally applicable. The school program appeals to recent graduates and to working professionals as well. It consists of nurses, physical therapists, chiropractors, paramedics, pharmacists, and respiratory therapists. 10% of the students in the school have doctorates while half of them have master’s degrees.
The school’s curriculum consists of preclinical component and clinical rotations. Preclinical course is carried out via a virtual classroom setting where students interact with faculty and have group discussions online. The clinical rotation on the hand offers hands on experience by actual handling of patients in a teaching hospital. The university teaches students from 40 different countries.
