Oman Medical College

The College of Medicine and Health Sciences in Oman is under the National University of Science and Technology in the region. It waws previously known as the Oman Medical College. It was established in 2001 and was the only private medical college in Osman. It has graduated more than 700 undergraduate students with an MD degree in Medicine. Most of the graduates are either successfully practicing or in postgraduate programs abroad or in Osman.

University Introduction:

The Dean of the school is Dr. Mohammad Al Shafaee. The vision of the college is to be an internationally recognized university well known for its excellence in education and research driven by social values. It offers a 6-year Doctor of Medicine program in partnership with the West Virginia University. It has about 168 staff members across 12 academic departments and administration. 


The various departments in the college are Department of Anatomy and Neuroscience, Department of Human Function, Department of Pharmacology, Department of Microbiology, Department of Pathology, Department of Social and Behavioral Sciences, Department of Internal Medicine, Department of Surgery, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Department of Biochemistry, Department of Pediatrics, Department of Public Health and Family Medicine.

Campus Life:

The institution is well equipped with advanced laboratories, restaurants and coffee shops, sports and recreational areas, and an IT department that ensures WIFI is accessible all the time. It has an excellent library with material that is available both online and offline. The school offers psychological counselling and provides a space where students can share their personal and emotional challenges. The services offered include personal counselling, psychological assessment, psychotherapy, and training and coaching.


The college has comfortable hostels that are adequate for students. IT accommodates 142 students and 3 house mothers. It has 4 floors with 48 rooms and each room houses 3 students.
