Riga stradins University is located in Riga, Latvia. It was established in 1950 as Riga Medical Institute. It was founded on the basis of the Faculty of Medicine of State University of Latvia. The founders of the university were professors Ernests Burtnieks and Paul Stradins. At first the school only had Faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Dentistry, Faculty of Pharmacy and 45 departments. It is a public school that offers various study programs. It ensures scientific projects are realized, and offers training of experts in healthcare and social sciences who work in Latvia and worldwide.
The institute was renamed medical Academy of Latvia in 1990. It became Riga Stradins university in 1998. It offers High School students together with doctors of science the opportunity to study at RSU and enhance their education. It has 9 faculties that offers undergraduate and postgraduate programs.
