The university was named after Nicolae Testemitanu. It was established in 1945 and it is located in Chisinau, Moldova. In the beginning it only had one faculty ‘Faculty of General Medicine’ and 32 departments with 1000 students. Teaching was carried out by 130 professors. With time, the university incorporated other faculties such as Faculty of Stomatology, Pediatric Faculty, Faculty of Preventive Medicine and Faculty of Pharmacy.
Other than increased faculties, the university has had significant growth with increased programs and facilities over the last 70 years. The school also hopes to conduct scientific research that is world class.
