Tajik State Medical University
Avicenna Tajik State Medical University was established in 1939. It is a public university that is located in Dushanbe. The university is managed by the Ministry of Health in the country. It is the only university in Tajikistan that prepares medical professionals for the country. The school was named after Abuali Ibni Sino (Avicenna) who was a Persian polymath.
The first director of the school was Kraus Adolf Andreevich. More than 35,000 students have been educated in the school since its establishment. These medical personnel work in Tajikistan and outside the country as well. The school has successfully developed and updated its curriculum in accordance with the requirements of the World Federation for Medical Education.

University Introduction:
The university is a key educational and scientific base for the Ministry of Health. The school staff carries out more than 45,000 remedial and consultative actions and more than 15,000 surgical operations every year. The school trains highly qualified medical practitioners. The university accepts international students and has more than 500 students from 15 different countries. Foreign countries represented in the school include Saudi Arabia, India, Egypt, Iran, Pakistan, Afghanistan and Kazakhstan. The university is in cooperation with more than 80 scientific educational institutions.

The school faculty consists of 796 members with most of them being renowned scientists. The faculties in the school are 4 which include Faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Dentistry, Faculty of Pharmaceuticals, and Faculty of Public Health.
