Ulyanovsk State University is one of the largest higher educational institutions in the Volga Region, which comprises six institutes, seven independent faculties, two affiliates, six learning centers and many international study centers. The university enrolls about 16,000 students, among them almost 200 foreign citizens from Europe, Asia, Africa, North America and South America. Currently, the university employs 1,254 faculty members, including 138 Doctorate and 623 Candidate of Science degree holders.

USU offers a variety of study options viz. full and part-time, external, extended, distance education programs on undergraduate, graduate and post-graduate levels. There are 68 majors, 66 post-graduate, 29 residency training, and 14 internship programs available. USU also offers the opportunity of enrolling in dual degree programs too.

Ulyanovsk State University (USU) offers courses and programs leading to recognized higher education degrees such as bachelor degrees, master degrees, doctorate degrees in several areas of study. This 29 years old institution has a selective admission policy based on students’ past academic record and grades. The admission rate range is 70-80% making this Russian higher educational organization a fairly selective institution. International students are welcome to apply for enrollment. The educational process is developed in full agreement with state educational standards of the Russian specialties.

History of Student Enrolment 

The first international students were enrolled in USU undergraduate study programs in 1991, residency training programs – in 1999, post-graduate programs – in 2004. The first set of foreign nationals (English Medium) in the internship took place in 1999.Currently, there are 1490 students studying in Ulyanovsk State University in 17 departments in the field of”Medicine” and “Pediatrics”. The first graduation of 136 medical students took place in 1997. Admission in specialty “Pediatrics” launched in 2004. The first graduation of 20 doctors in this specialty was held in 2010, and in 2014, 116 pediatricians were graduated. Over the lifetime of the Faculty of Medicine graduated 2692 specialists. The vast majority of young doctors working in the region.

Presently, USU enrolls about 120 international students from 25 countries. Since 2000, USU hosts an affiliate of National Russian Language Test Center, which administers tests to any foreign citizen willing to have official proof of their knowledge of Russian by obtaining an internationally recognized certificate.

Study abroad opportunities were provided toalmost 100 students from Russian-American Faculty and Russian-German Facultyfrom the last three years. USU has organized summer cultural-academic programs for students, faculty, and administrators from foreign partner institutions as of 2001. During this period,students’ visiting with insights into Russian economy and culture isusually counted towards their degree.

The Faculty of Medicine of USU comprised of 40 Residential Doctors, 15 scientists, 25 Tutors and more than 150 Medical Staffs. Teacher team of the Medical Faculty in Ulyanovsk State University consist of 40 doctors and 110 candidates of science, 5 scientists of the Faculty of elected members of the Academy of Natural Sciences, 2 Professors have the title of “Honored Worker of Higher School of the Russian Federation”,21 professors – were awardedthe designation “Honorary Worker of Higher Professional Education of the Russian Federation” and 8 professors  were honoured with the title of”Honorary Doctor of the Russian Federation”.

Eligibility Criteria (As per MCI rules)

• Minimum 50% in PCB (Physics, Chemistry & Biology) in Board exam of 10 +2 and passing mark in English as a Compulsory subject.Relaxation to 40% for student who belong to SC, ST and OBC category.
• Minimum age limit to get admission is 17+(as on 31st December in the Year of Admission ).
• Proper knowledge in English is required.

Accommodation

International hostels are available for international students and are fully furnished. There are separate wings for Boys and Girls. Hostels are with self-kitchens, attached toilet/washroom centralized heating facility, Wi-Fi internet, Medical Centre, Gymnasium, Laundry, etc. In addition, an Indian Mess may be operational at student’s hostel from the academic year 2017-18.
