The University of Karachi is a higher education institution for medical education. It’s a public research university located in Karachi, Sindh, Pakistan. The university was established by an act of Pakistan parliament in June 1951, and designed by Mohsin Baig. The university is known as UOK, and also one of the oldest universities for medical education.

The University of Karachi is the oldest research university in Karachi. The university is affiliated with the Higher Education Commission (Pakistan), Pakistan Bar Council, Pakistan Engineering Council, and Pharmacy Council of Pakistan. The university is also recognized by the World Health Organization. In 2019, the university was ranked 251 in Asia and 801 globally. It is also a renowned member of the Association of Commonwealth Universities of the UK.
The University of Karachi has 9 faculties- Faculty of Pharmacy Faculty of Social Sciences, Faculty of Education, Faculty of Engineering, Faculty of Management & administrative sciences, Faculty of Islamic Studies, Faculty of Law, and Faculty of Medicine, etc. The university implant more than 53 departments and 20 research institutes/centers. All the faculty members are well-known for teaching and research within science and technology. The university has 893 academic teaching staff and more than 2500 supporting staff.
The university campus has every facility under one roof. The University of Karachi is well-known for its research center known as the International Center for Chemical and Biological Sciences. Students are also allowed to do research and practice in the center. It provides some digital resources like E-library, E-books, etc. The central library has more than 400,000 textbooks and numerous journals. It is managed by 25 librarians, 10 assistants, and 90 other staff members. In addition to this, the university has its own publishing house, recreational center, sports center, and computer center.
The university provides accommodation to international students. All the rooms are well maintained and have necessary facilities such as bed, table, chair, wardrobe, etc. All the rooms have a wonderful view of nature and garden and every building is fenced with trees and plants.
