Overview of University of Newcastle

 University Introduction:

The school provides about 175 full time undergraduate degrees in a range of subject areas such as arts, sciences, medicine and engineering. The Oldest building in the campus is the Armstrong building. It is the site of the original Armstrong college. The building consists of the Kings hall which acts as the university’s chief hall for ceremonial purposes. It has 500 seats in total. A statue of Martin Luther King Junior was erected in the inner courtyard of the building in 2017. This was to mark the 50th anniversary of his honorary degree from the university. The Bruce building, a former brewery, is currently a residential and office space. 


The university is divided into three faculties. They include Faculty of Humanities and Social sciences, Faculty of Medical Sciences and Faculty of Science, Agriculture and Engineering. 

Campus Life:

The main building, completed in 2012, consists of a learning resource center, 18 teaching rooms, a lecture theatre, science lab, restaurant, administrative and academic offices. Newcastle’s library service has been awarded the governments charter mark for excellent customer service five times in a row. It is the only university in the United Kingdom to receive the award the number of times it has. It consists of four main facilities which include Philip Robinson Library, Walton Library and the Law library.
